Bilbao BBK Live Bereziak, free of charge and open to all audiences, will feature Los Niños Jesús (Jordi Évole’s band) , Soleá Morente, The Parrots, and Soledad Vélez, among others.

All the information regarding timetables, access, and wristband collection can now be consulted on the festival’s website and app.

As has become customary over the years, the Bilbao City Council  and the festival are teaming up against sexual assault by promoting the campaign ‘NO ES NO… EZ BETI DA EZ’ (NO MEANS NO)

Bilbao BBK Live is back stronger than ever for its 15th edition with more than 100 artists and 12 stages. This year, the benchmark for international live music festivals, will take place on July 7, 8, and 9, surrounded by nature at Mount Kobetamendi, which has become enshrined as a place of pilgrimage for audiences from around the world who come to the city of Bilbao for a few days to enjoy an exceptional lineup. At the press conference held today at the Bilbao Town Hall, the Councillor for Economic Development, Trade and Employment of the Bilbao City Council, Xabier Ochandiano, and the CEO of Last Tour, Alfonso Santiago, presented the complete lineup and the latest developments for this edition.

After a long two-year hiatus, perhaps the most faithful tribute to this festival and its 15 years of life is to emphasise its presence with a total of 12 stages, 7 of which will be located at the Kobetamendi site, 1 at the campsite on Mount Arraiz and 4 in the city centre.

BILBAO BBK LIVE IN THE CITY

In keeping with its long-standing tradition, the festival will spill out from the boundaries of Kobetamendi and flow down to the city centre and spread itself across 4 stages for the Bilbao BBK Live Bereziak program, free of charge and open to all audiences.

The city centre will feel the first beats of the festival at midday on Thursday, in the middle of Gran Vía, with the performance of the Colombian-Navarra orchestra Goxua’n Salsa, a band that mixes 60s, 70s and 80s salsa with Latin music and sings in Basque.

The stage will also be graced by:

  • Los Niños Jesús, the band led by Jordi Évole, with their festive repertoire of classics from the past, present and future.
  • The stage’s female presence will be led by Chilean Soledad Vélez, Soleá Morente’s flamenco-pop and underground experimental reggaeton queen Rosa Pistola on the decks.
  • The Catalans, Mainline Magic Orchestra, will delight with the most fun and quirky show in Bilbao’s centre featuring their synthesisers, drum machines and electronic flutes
  • Merina Gris and their violent pop will present their first full-length album Zeruan Orain.
  • The fresh from Granada, La Plazuela and their pop fusion.
  • Vic Mirallas‘s fusion of musical genres and love dramas.
  • The Parrot’s pure garage.
  • The fun rogue rock ‘n’ roll of Ramonets.
  • Raitx’s poetic lyrics.

BILBAO BBK LIVE EXPERIENCE!

Once again this year, the Bilbao BBK Live wristband offers you advantages and discounts in cultural centres, museums and shops in Bilbao thanks to the Bilbao BBK Live Experience! This initiative brings together all the places where festival-goers will be able to access benefits by showing their festival wristband.

BILBAO BBK LIVE AT KOBETAMENDI

The doors to Kobetamendi will open to the public every day starting at 5pm with performances by highly anticipated artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Stromae, The Killers, J Balvin, Bomba Estéreo and Nathy Peluso. These headliners are joined by new artists who were announced last week, including Ed Maverick, Coach Party, Lynks and Billie Marten.

All performance timetables and stage distribution are now available on the festival’s website, social networks and app so that you can organise and enjoy Bilbao BBK Live 2022 to the max.

The Akelarre programme will also fill the festival campsite with good music. During the three-day festival, campers will be able to enjoy performances that will soon be unveiled.

TIMETABLES, ACCESS, and WRISTBANDS

Wristbands can be collected at the usual pick-up points: at San Mamés, at the BBK hall and BEC!. Access to the venue will be facilitated by the free bus service departing from San Mamés-Capuchinos and BEC!.

To help to organise the journey and avoid the stress of rush hour access to the festival, this year the organisers are testing out an extra bus service with pre-reservation. The cost of the trip will be €1.50, and will only be available for the bus to the grounds. Prior booking will be required via the festival website or app. This service will be available in the coming days.

BILBAO BBK LIVE SUSTAINABILITY

Once again, the festival reaffirms its commitment to caring for the natural environment of Kobetamendi and maintains its fight to reduce plastic and care for our planet by implementing measures such as a cashless payment system, recyclable cup rental and a wide range of containers for proper waste management.

These and other measures such as efficient electricity distribution, the power down plan to reduce consumption, reusable signage and decorative elements, have for the 4th year made the festival worthy of the Erronka Garbia certificate. A certificate, which recognises those events which integrate environmental measures into their design and organisation to minimise the potential negative impacts on the environment when celebrating an event.

The festival is also joining the initiative of Zierbena Sarea, Zaporeak and Ongi Etorri Errefuxiatuak in collecting tents and food for migrants in our area without a housing alternative. It will also help needy families in the region thanks to the donations collected via the tickets, which will be distributed by the Bizkaia Food Bank.

Among other measures in favor of sustainability, the festival has a 0 kilometer procurement policy, prioritizing suppliers from Bilbao and Bizkaia. More than 3,600 people work around Bilbao BBK Live, 72% of them from Bizkaia. Among the companies supplying the festival, 50% are based in Bizkaia.

The festival and the BBK Foundation, a strategic partner in the development of the event’s sustainability strategy, have worked hand in hand with Ihobe, the Basque Government Public Company, whose purpose is to support the Basque Government in the development of environmental policy and the extension of the culture of environmental sustainability in the Basque Country.

A SEXUAL ASSAULT-FREE FESTIVAL

Since 2017, the Festival organisers and the Bilbao City Council have joined forces in the fight against sexual assault by launching awareness-raising and prevention campaigns. The message for 2022 is ‘NO ES NO… EZ BETI DA EZ’, (NO MEANS NO) a slogan that has become widespread in Bilbao society thanks to its impact in Aste Nagusia, and which returns this year to reinforce the rejection of sexual assaults during this great event hosted by the city.

As in previous years, the information guide has been reissued in 4 languages – Basque, Spanish, English and French – on how to act, identify and respond to sexual assaults.

The Bilbao City Council reiterates that sexual assaults can be reported, and also urges citizens to maintain their active commitment and support of equal and violence-free relations between women and men.

In addition, this year, the festival is also collaborating with the Bilbao association Anitzak, which works to achieve equality for the entire LGTBIQ+ collective and which will be present at the festival to provide support to anyone who needs it.
