The festival, located in Cala de Mijas, will be held on September 1, 2 and 3 at the Sonora Mijas venue.

The countdown for the first edition of the international festival Cala Mijas has already begun. Less than three months to go until the most anticipated event on the Costa del Sol opens its doors from September 1st to 3rd.

After the positive international and national reception of the previously announced talent, today we reveal more artists from this exceptional lineup—renowned bands with extensive experience that together with the most avant-garde electronic sounds make Cala Mijas an unmissable event.

Cala Mijas 2022 line-up

We already anticipated dreamy headliners like the electronic legends The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk, today, we are thrilled to confirm that the one and only Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds joins them, undoubtedly providing an event full of lights and shadows, as the fame that precedes the Australian, with a transcendental, incomparable and unrepeatable show.

Thursday, 1 September

The opening day will be led by the undisputed kings of British rock, Arctic Monkeys, with an exclusive date in Spain, in addition to previously announced artists such as Bonobo, Chet Faker, and Marc Rebillet.

Electronic music will have its own space and identity, welcoming sound explorations from day one with an exceptional cast: Horse Meat Disco b2b Kiddy Smile, a joint set of the queerest electronic references; the genre-breaking rhythms of Josey Rebelle; and Joy Orbison and her savoir faire on the decks.

Brothers Tom and Ed Russell aka Overmono with their jumps from techno to garage to jungle, the feast of sounds from Ross from Friends in his live facet, and the peace and good vibes inherent in the Latin sounds of Dinamarca could not be left off the list.

The British quartet Crawlers and the passionate soul and hip hop quartet from Malaga, La Vida de Jaime, also joined Cala Mijas’ line-up.

Friday, 2 September

The second day of the festival—which is already an essential part of this summer’s agenda—will feature the previously mentioned show of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds but also the dreamlike live performance from the Catalan natives Maria Arnal i Marcel Bagès. And representing the most festive and iconic facet of the festival, the triple show from 2manyfriends: 2manydjs b2b Tiga b2b Dave P. instead of the previously announced Soulwax.

The soul of Hot Chip Joe Goddard will also be there in his facet as a DJ; the most promising group of the underground electronic scene from Granada B2BBs; and the founder of the London record label Rhythm Section, Bradley Zero.

Saturday, 3 September

On Saturday, the front man par excellence of the UK, Liam Gallagher, will be joined by such acclaimed artists such as Dan Snaith with two of his most legendary projects—Caribou, perfectly combining electronic production with psychedelic pop, and Daphni, his more sybaritic and rhythmic side—as well as the undisputed queen of techno Nina Kraviz.

The last day of Cala Mijas will be led by more female artists; the incombustible flamenco icon Soleá Morente, Nathy Peluso, who will move her Calambre to Saturday, the collage universe of SIMONA and the DJ from Granada Dalila.

That same day will bring more electronic references such as Londoners Call Super or Daniel Avery; Leon Vynehall and his legendary UK house sessions, and Madrid’s electronic music producer and DJ Pional. Also joining the line-up of this first edition of Cala Mijas the master of national pop-rock decks DaniLess.

In short, a lineup in which artistic plurality converges with multiple musical styles will be distributed over three days, completing the performances of the debut edition of Cala Mijas.
